Fox News Chicago aired a story on Thursday’s evening news surrounding the highly controversial strip club “Get It” in Stone Park, IL that is scheduled to open soon right next to the convent, provincial headquarters, retirement home, and novitiate (including several chapels) of the Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo, Scalabrinians.  The Sisters and local residents who have been protesting the opening of the strip club have reportedly been harassed by local government officials, police officers, and anonymous senders of threatening messages. “To be very clear and blunt about it, the whole thing stinks to high heaven,” Tom Brejcha told FoxNews. Stone Park, IL has a reputation for being hospitable to some of Chicago’s notorious organized crime figures.  It also hosts a large community of immigrant families for whom the Scalabrinian Sisters have ministered, educated, and cared for over more than seventy years in both Stone Park and the adjacent suburb, Melrose Park.

The Sisters were never properly notified that Village officials were rezoning their neighborhood to allow the strip club to be built, as the only notice purportedly sent to them was misaddressed, allegedly by mistake. Stone Park repealed all of its ordinances that would have restricted the club’s operation next door to the Sisters.
