I just got to see a beautiful friend I haven’t seen in a while! When I ran to her excitedly, I thanked her for coming and told her I was so glad she was here. I hugged her but she stopped to tell me something. ”There’s a reason I’m here. God just spoke to me while I was driving down the road and He told me to write you a check. I pulled over and wrote it and this is from Him.”
I began to weep before I even saw the amount. We only needed a little more from God to pay for the rest of our trip to Washington, DC. My husband and I believe God has called us to go to the Hilltop Conference from April 11-13. There is literally no inexpensive way for a couple to travel from humble Jasper, AL to the lofty hill of Washington, DC. So we prayed. We asked God to pay for our trip. More specifically we prayed for the blessing of the Lord.
Proverbs 10:22 “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”
We booked our trip before we had a single dollar from the Lord to pay for it– in faith that He would provide. He did! Within two weeks of booking our trip, four individuals gave generously, prompted by the Lord. We did not ask a single person or send a single letter. We didn’t even let anyone know we were in need. We just prayed and believed. One check came in the mail and said “blessings” in the memo. The blessing of the Lord is real. He sees us and hears us and moves on the hearts of men to give when we are in need.
The theme of the Hilltop 2013 conference is “Countercultural Dreamers.” Dreamers are often outcasts. Throughout the Bible and throughout history, revolutionaries who dare to dream against the current and culture of death are thrown in ditches, disowned by their families, tossed to the lions, and certainly purified by the fire. Sometimes being a countercultural dreamer is lonely. Life Tape can symbolize the suffering of Jesus who was silent in the midst of violent opposition. His friends abandoned Him and even after His resurrection He had to explain to them why it was necessary for Him to suffer. Sometimes it seems like no one understands the urgency of the dreamers heart to oppose the culture and to pray.
